ELVIS AARON PRESLEY was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississipp and became known simply as "the King of Rock and Roll". Presley's first RCA single, Heartbreak Hotel, was released on January 27 1956. Presley is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music. He won three Grammys, also receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame. He died on August 16, 1977, aged 42.
