Naked Tito goes public

Balkan websites recently published a naked photo of the former Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito. The photo was forbidden during communist times in Yugoslavia, but someone has taken it out of the archives and published it. The image shows the former dictator during the civil war in Spain in 1939. The daily newspaper Glas Javnosti said the photo was found in the archives by publicist Zeljko Zirojevic. Ex Yugoslavs who participated in the civil war in Spain wanted to publish the photo in a book in 1961, but it was taken out of the market by Yugoslav authorities. Tito ruled in the former republic of Yugoslavia from 1945 to his death in 1980.
