Foot reading has been practised in China and India for more than 5,000 years. It stems from the belief that the feet act as a mirror to the rest of the body.
Any lumps, calluses or pain in the feet are indicative of problems elsewhere. The arches, for example, are linked to the spine, so a fallen arch will often indicate a back problem. What’s more, it is believed the mind and body are inextricably linked — so physical ailments can be a product of personality. For example, people with fallen arches might have tried to have too much ‘backbone’; their strong, independent spirit (normally indicated by a high arch) may have caused them to take on too much.
But is there really any truth in this?
