Habitat: isolated regions of the Australian Alps, being as manly as possible given that they're turquoise
There are any number of ways to cope if you're too hot. You can sweat. You can pump more blood into vessels just under your skin, releasing more heat. You can find some shade, or an iced drink.
On the whole you probably wouldn't colour yourself turquoise.
But that's what male chameleon grasshoppers do. Normally black, they turn a vivid shade of iridescent turquoise when temperatures get higher than 10 °C.
So why do they do it?
