Stork Rodan returns to great relief of many Croatians

"World-renowned lover stork Rodan has flown back into the wings of his girlfriend Malena, ten days after his expected arrival, the Croatian press has reported.

Rodan’s tardiness had worried many Croatians who have followed the love story between the two birds for nine years.

The loving stork couple Rodan and Malena from Croatia’s eastern town of Brodski Varos harnessed fame when newspapers around the world carried their unusual love story. For nine years now, Rodan has been returning after a journey south to his lover confined her to her nest due to a wing injury. Over the course of the years, the couple had some 35 chicks.

Now Rodan has returned to the great relief of Malena’s keeper Stjepan Vokic and numerous others around the world who were anxiously following the story’s development.

The two birds were seen being all lovey dovey in their nest."
