Their in our own lifetime is a real possibility; it is estimated that the number of bonobos left in the wild is somewhere around 10,000 - all of them in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Bonobos and chimpanzees are our closest living relatives; like chimpanzees, bonobos share 98.7% of our DNA."
