Josipovic Wins Croatian Presidential Runoff, Exit Poll Shows
Ivo Josipovic, a 52-year old law and music professor, won Croatia’s runoff presidential vote and will lead the former Yugoslav nation’s effort to complete European Union entry talks by June, an exit poll shows.
Josipovic, who placed first among 11 candidates in the first round two weeks ago, took 64.6 percent today, according to the Ipsos Puls polling agency, whose results were broadcast on Croatia’s Nova TV. His rival, Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic, had 35.4 percent. Official results from the electoral commission will be released in Zagreb just after midnight.
