We will not forget Vukovar

Bikers Pay Respect to Vukovar Fighters

The club of veterans from the 148th brigade of the Croatian Army Zagreb-Trnje, organized a remembrance ceremony for the victims of Vukovar.
The president of the 148th guard brigade, Tihomir Kordić ,listed some sad statistics.

“1,700 people were killed during the attack on Vukovar.
More than 4,000 people were injured. Between 3,000 and 5,000 were captured.
A great number of defenders and citizens are still considered to be missing” said Kordić.

He stressed that around 1,800 fighters defended Vukovar,
of which 800 were from other parts of Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Diaspora.
232 citizens from Zagreb participated in the defence, as well as members of the first guard brigade “Tigrovi” (Tigers), of which 72 died, 15 were killed, and 14 are still filed as missing.

“The statistics that speak of people, about the defenders of Vukovar.
They are heroes that everyone must bow down to, heroes that created Croatia
in the bloodiest way, not for the name of the city, but for the defenders.
This is why we say: ‘We will not forget Vukovar’” said Kordić."
