Khan Academy Founder Says AI Will Revolutionize Education

Sal Khan believes the expanding world of artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to an even more personalized experience.
In a recent TED Talk, Khan gave a demonstration of the possibilities with their new chatbot, Khanmigo. The TED Talk comes in the midst of a raging debate about the future of AI, especially “all-knowing” bots such as ChatGPT. Teachers, administrators, and commentators are realistically concerned that AI may enable students to skate by actual learning at best and cheat at worst.
While Kahn acknowledges the need for “guardrails,” he paints an exciting picture of a massive development in education if AI is used responsibly. In fact, it can be a personal tutor uniquely tailored to every student's needs.

The space station is dead. Long live the space station.

In eight years, the International Space Station (ISS) – a bastion of global collaboration and human ability – will end.
But that dramatic finale doesn't need to be a sombre occasion. Instead, it could herald an exciting future of human spaceflight that will hopefully already be underway.

How genetics determine our life choices

We may not realise it, but it appears that many routine aspects of our daily lives might be partially driven by our genome. Subtle genetic tweaks in your taste receptors help to determine whether you prefer drinking coffee or tea. It turns out that coffee lovers are less sensitive to the bitterness of caffeine, while tea aficionados do not perceive other types of bitter chemicals quite so potently.
Genetics also play a role when it comes to our inclinations or aversions for all sorts of different activities. At a simplistic level, it governs both how much you enjoy exercising, and whether you prefer more solitary forms of physical activity such as running, or competing with others as part of team sports. But our DNA can also point us towards more specific leisure-time pursuits.

Onirism, Jean-Léonard Polo

Jean-Léonard Polo has especially known success since his series “Corps pour Elles” initiated in 2016.
A recognition that has earned him exhibitions in France, the USA, Switzerland and Australia.
A fan of Helmut Newton, he is, like the latter, fascinated by the female body which he uses as a starting point, it acts as a trompe l’oeil and gives the illusion at first glance of an authentic landscape.
A way for him to create an imaginary world and to tell his stories with the help of figurines of modelism which are integrated there.
If the aestheticism of his work is obvious, the erotic dimension is also but in a subtle and poetic way, leaving free rein to the imagination of those who contemplate his images.

Carl Sagan: a lovely and powerful new short film and automaton installation about the urgency of environmental action

In the 1980s, visionary astronomer and science educator Carl Sagan raised the alarm about climate change, destruction of our natural world, and the urgency of environmental action to protect our future. The new short film above—from UN Global Compact, AlmapBBDO, and Boiler Filmes—features clips of Sagan's speeches accompanied by a lovely tape-loop soundtrack by Amulets.
The animal automatons were created by Argentine artist Pablo Lavezzari and are powered by the reel-to-reel tape machine.
