King Charles III is crowned
Britain’s King Charles III has been crowned in a once-in-a-generation royal event witnessed by hundreds of high-profile guests inside Westminster Abbey, as well as tens of thousands of well-wishers who gathered in central London despite the rain.
While Charles became King on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II last September, the coronation on Saturday was the formal crowning of the monarch.
The service was a profoundly religious affair, reflecting the fact that aside from being head of state of the United Kingdom and 14 other countries, Charles is also the Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

The Official Trailer for Dune: Part Two
The 2021 movie Dune (the first part) made more than $400 million worldwide, surpassing expectations that were modest because of the pandemic. Then everyone who didn't see it in theaters watched it as a streaming hit.
In part two, Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya return and are joined by new characters played by Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Christopher Walken (who isn't in this trailer, but plays the Emperor).
Dune: Part Two will open in theaters November 3rd.

The jokes are so bad you wonder if they're actually jokes, until the laugh track lets you know that they are. The songs are eye-wateringly corny.
Paris’s Arc de Triomphe Perfectly Frames a Glowing Full Moon in a Stunning Photo by Stefano Zanarello
With a bustling street below, Zanarello waited about 1,300 meters from the famed monument, speculating that the celestial body would pass through the cloudless night sky and precisely position itself with the architectural aperture.

School shooting in Belgrade
A 13-year-old boy opened fire in a Belgrade classroom in an apparently planned attack that killed eight children and a school security guard and injured a further six pupils as well as his teacher.
Police named the shooter as Kosta Kecmanović and said he had been a pupil at the school in the centre of the Serbian capital since 2019. They said he had used two of his father’s guns for the shooting and may have been plotting the attack for a month.

Charles is the king of apathy
So far, the public mood has been mostly one of polite apathy. Some will be camping out to secure prime flag-waving territory on the Mall and some actively protesting (around one in five Britons wants an elected head of state). But most of the country loiters in between, accepting the monarchy’s continued existence with varying degrees of enthusiasm or resignation while generally being preoccupied with other things entirely. While last year 38% of Britons still felt the royal family was “very important” to the country, the National Centre for Social Research finds that figure has now fallen to 29%, its lowest point since records began, 40 years ago.
A.I. trained to read minds and translate private thought to text via brain scans
Researchers revealed today that they've demonstrated how an A.I. can essentially "read minds" by analyzing fMRI brain scans and translating that information into words reflecting the private thoughts of the human subject.
The University of Texas at Austin neuroscientists published their astonishing results in the journal Nature Neuroscience. They trained the A.I. with measurements taken of the subjects' brain activity as they listened to narrative podcasts. The A.I. then learned to match those patterns with particular words and phrases from the podcast scripts.

Now 90 Years Old, Willie Nelson Is Always on Our Mind
The country music legend, who celebrated his birthday this past Saturday, is on tour, with dates scheduled into October.
Assessing Nelson’s legacy is challenging, because there are so many Willies to assess.
There is historical Willie Nelson, child of the Depression. There is iconic Willie Nelson, near-embodiment of Texas myth. There is outlaw Willie Nelson, revolutionizing the country music industry. There is activist Willie Nelson, Farm Aid’s co-founder and biofuel pioneer. There is Willie Nelson the songwriter of rare and poignant gifts, and more Willie Nelsons yet to be named.
