Scientists think T. Rex had big lips

Contrary to popular depictions of the king of dinosaurs—with razor-sharp fangs protruding from its jaw—a new study suggests the Tyrannosaurus rex’s fearsome teeth were hidden behind lizard-like lips. 

 While some critics are pushing back against this idea, the paper, published Thursday in the journal Science, proposes a change in how the world sees T. rex. It might be time to shift the toothy imagining of the dinosaur that filmmakers have picked up on, leading to blockbuster movies like Jurassic Park.

Man Built A Life-Sized T-Rex Out Of Snow In His Front Yard

The T-Rex is in full color and looks like an inflatable standing in the snow, but Minnesota resident Paul Larcom poured his time and effort into creating the dinosaur artwork for three weeks. 

According to Larcom, he was inspired by a previous snow sculpture he did of a Tauntaun from Star Wars.

Look at those tiny little arms; he can't take it off! But he doesn't seem to mind. 

The Natural History Museum in London dressed their animatronic T-rex in a jumbo size Christmas sweater, custom made of all recycled materials, meaning previously-used yarn and plastic bottles. Because you know the dinosaur species cared about the environment as much as they cared about Christmas.

What Really Killed The Dinosaurs?

For decades, the prevailing theory about the extinction of the dinosaurs was that an asteroid from the belt between Mars and Jupiter slammed into the planet, causing cataclysmic devastation that wiped out most life on the planet. 

 But new research out of Harvard University theorizes that the Armageddon causing object came from much farther out than originally believed. According to this new theory, the devastation came not from a relatively nearby asteroid, but from a sort of long-distance comet that came from the edge of the solar system, in an area known as the Oort cloud.

New Horned Dinosaurs Had Spiked Neck Shields

Two new horned dinosaurs, one from Utah and the other from Montana, each sported distinctive facial horns and spiked neck shields, according to two separate papers published in the journal PLOS ONE. The discoveries increase the known diversity of ceratopsians, which were plant-eating horned dinos that roamed North America and Asia during the final stages of the age of dinosaurs.
 One of the new dinosaurs, Machairoceratops cronusi, lived 77 million years ago at what is now called the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument of southern Utah. continue
