Conservative bloc led by HDZ party has won the general election but without enough votes to rule alone.
Unofficial results of Sunday’s parliamentary vote show that, after 99.79% of ballots have been counted, the Patriotic Coalition, led by the HDZ, has won 59 seats in the parliament, the SDP-led Croatia Is Growing coalition has won 56 seats, the MOST alliance, the biggest surprise of the election, has won 19 seats, the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) three, the Croatian Democratic Party of Slavonia and Baranja (HDSSB) and Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic’s coalition two seats each, and the Successful Croatia coalition and the Human Barrier one seat each.
The State election Commission (DIP) updated information on the election outcome every half an hour during the night and by 8 am Monday it processed information from 99.79% of polling stations.
The 59 seats won by the HDZ-led Patriotic Coalition include the three seats won in Constituency No. 11, designed for Croatian nationals without residence in Croatia, won with 85.75% support.
The two biggest coalitions have won elections in five constituencies each while MOST scored the best results in central Zagreb and in the south of the country. continue
