"The workers at Zagreb’s Maksimir have spotted an unusual creature in the park's lake and are seeking visitors' help to solve the mystery.
The animal in question is believed to be the Chinese Soft Shelled Turtle who is found in its natural habitat in areas of eastern Asia. The species are not common for Croatian waters and some speculate that the turtle could be someone’s unwanted pet.
Park workers have solicited visitors’ help in order to determine with certainty the turtle’s species. All are asked to take photographs of the animal order to enable the authorities to act in time and take it to a more appropriate environment should their suspicion prove true.
Photos can be submitted in person in park or electronically at cuvaprirode@park-maksimir.hr. Successful snaps will be rewarded, officials say."
