As migrants and refugees departed from Budapest station in a hurry, they left behind hundreds of toys, shoes and non-essentials. Photographer Antonio Olmos captures the poignancy of the discarded items.

 

Giant Straw Dinosaurs Invade Japanese Fields After Rice Harvest

Niigata Prefecture, Japan, has thought of a novel way to use the straw left over from their rice harvest. A “wara” or rice-straw festival is held every August 31st, where local artists build elaborate straw sculptures over wooden frames.
The frames allow the statues to be larger and let spectators interact with them. Amy Goda, an aspiring local artist, has gained fame for her spectacular rice-straw dinosaur sculptures.

Photographer, artist, and college professor Binh Danh was born in a fishing town in Vietnam in 1977. He escaped the country with his family on a boat in 1979 and was placed in a refugee camp in Malaysia. Eventually, the Danh family immigrated to the United States and settled in San Jose, California. Themes of mortality, memory, and spirituality are a lifelong inspiration for Danh and a primary influence on his artistic development. Danh is known for his innovative approach to alternative photography processes.

Two Guys Went Fishing But Ended Up Catching Abandoned Kittens

When Jason Frost and Brandon Key went fishing on the Black Warrior river in Alabama, they had no idea what they might catch. They never imagined that it would turn into a “cat-fishing” trip, which
 is exactly what happened when they rescued two kittens that swam out from shore to seek safety on their boat.
After reaching dry land, Frost and Key met a family that fell in love with the kittens and adopted them.
