Drawing on everyday items, Wenqing crafts scenes that comment on social norms and the contradictory principles of “civilized” society. She views herself as a gentle rebel, using a vivid colour palette and playful juxtaposition to draw viewer’s in. Like the naivety of a child’s perception of adult beliefs of worth and value, Wenqing is able to imbue her images with deeper meaning and draw attention to important issues and question the foundations we take for granted.
