Evidence of Seating Plan Discovered at the Colosseum

Tickets were typically free to the 5,000 ancient Romans filing in to the Colosseum for any given event—but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a formal seating scheme to be followed.
 Workers using water to clean and restore the famous landmark recently uncovered the red numbers and letters long ago painted into engravings above the Colosseum’s entrance gates to help event-goers find their seats.
