This seal looks like he's blushing after a photographer caught it chilling out on an iceberg. But the ruddy appearance is the result of dipping its head into the water to grab some lunch. The red face is caused when the hungry mammal roots around the looking for food on the seabed near the Norwegian island of Svalbard, which is full of iron particles. These particles stick to hair follicles which causes a red and orange colour on the face.
