A petition to ban all current politicians and organize new elections has been launched in Croatia. Former TV star Hamed Bangoura initiated the petition by launching the website Pahulja.com, which translates into 'flake', a name Bangoura chose because he expects "people will team up like snowflakes to create an avalanche". He leads the mass of unsatisfied people living in a country, a new member of the European Union, that has been deeply hit by the economic crisis. The petition also asks for political parties to voluntarily put a moratorium of four years on their activities. The action wants to send a message that all the parties and politicians have disappointed the people of Croatia since its independence from former Yugoslavia in 1991 and therefore are kindly being asked to step aside. "We have survived, people always survive. But we are tired, exhausted and cheated. We want to develop a healthy political society and form a technical government of capable and honest people", said Hamed Bangoura in a public letter addressed to politicians and to ordinary people that were invited to create the snowflakes needed for an avalanche by singing up the online petition. Tens of thousands have signed it already.
