Portraits of a ravaged land: incredible photography by Nick Brandt

The British photographer Nick Brandt has spent more than 10 years documenting change and challenge in the natural world of East Africa.

Over that time, populations of elephants, rhinos, lions and other large animals have fallen sharply. Hence the increasingly sombre tone of a trilogy of portfolios he completes next week.  Following On This Earth and A Shadow Falls, he finishes a sentence with Across the Ravaged Land – the title both of a new book and of an exhibition of pictures that opens at the ATLAS Gallery, London, on Monday.
