Croatian media today (Friday) marked the fourth anniversary of funk music legend Dino Dvornik’s death. One of the country’s most famous singers, Dvornik was found dead in his bed by his wife in 2008 just days after celebrating his 44th birthday. Suffering from Hepatitis C he had overdosed on his medication pills. He was also said to be suffering from depression following the death of his father, legendary Croatian actor Boris Dvornik, six months earlier. Dino began his musical career at the age of 17 after founding his band ‘Kineski zid' (The Chinese wall) with his brother Dean. They went on to record the country’s first ever funk record. More success followed in the 90s, winning the Split festival award for his song 'Nista kontra Splita' (No word against my Split) as well as the Porin Croatian music award. That was followed by a string of awards for his smash hit albums Enfant Terrible and Vidi Ove Pisme (Look at this Song). He later appeared alongside US star Coolio in the movie A Wonderful NIght in Split, in which he played a local drug baron. By the time of his death he had released eight best selling albums and is still regarded as the Croatian king of Funk.
