" After the conclusion of the 5th Subversive Film Festivala (May 5-12, 2012), the big debates of the Subversive Forum, an event included on the list of the World Social Forum 2012, started yesterday, May 14, at the ZKM Theatre in Zagreb. The big international conference "The Future of Europe" also takes place under the auspices of the Subversive Forum.
The debates (they start each day at 10:00 hours) will attempt to provide answers to important questions regarding the future of Europe, the possibility of a different Europe and the role the European left can play in its creation, as well as the alternative direct democracy and self-management political systems as an element that could revive the existing representative democracy.
The first debate started yesterday at the ZKM Theatre and is dedicated to the crisis of Europe. The panels of the debate (it will conclude today) are focused on pan-European problems and problems specific to the European Union and they question the causes of the current situation. The panels will also try to answer the questions regarding the forms of manifestation of resistance to the austerity measures imposed from above by technocratic governments, the social and political motives of that resistance."
