Google doodle celebrates Mother’s Day

"Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May in honour of mothers and motherhood around the world. Though honouring motherhood has been around since ancient times in many cultures, the present day celebration began in 1908, when Anna Jarvis requested the church where her mother, Anna Reeves, spent over 20 years teaching Sunday School, to hold a memorial in remembrance of her mother. Her request was accepted and the first Mother's Day was celebrated on May 10, 1908 in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.Anna Jarvis tirelessly work to make Mother's Day a national holiday and in 1914 US President Woodrow Wilson signed it into national observance, declaring the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. Since then, this special day of honouring mothers has spread to many countries across the world."    Zeenews

The animated Google doodle opens with a mother figure in focus. Two kids pop into focus from behind a door and proceed to give their mother a tight hug. The characters then line up to form letters in the Google logo.
