Žudije the guardians of the Christ’s grave

Žudije are the guardians of the Christ’s grave and they commemorate the event of his resurrection during the Holy week. Every year, 13 honorary local men from Vodice dress up in the uniforms of Roman soldiers, and play a scene of 12 guardians and the Judah. Vodice is among the pioneer places in maintaining this tradition alive today and even converting it lately into a new event:
 the Žudije Festival.
