Split´s anti-gay violence moves onto internet

A group inviting insults and threats against homosexuals has been formed on Facebook following Saturday's Gay Pride parade in Split that ended with 137 arrests.

The group bears an offensive name which was not published in the press and already has several thousand members. According to daily Vecernji List, it is full of hateful and homophobic content.

Split police say they are aware that Saturday’s violence – which ended with a dozen injuries and 137 arrests – has moved into the virtual sphere. They say they are monitoring the group to see who is behind it, as well as if it could be reported for offences or misdemeanours.
