Sting Ray Bites Off Tourist`s Nose

"KATINA, CROATIA – Czech tourist Jirki almost lost his nose, photographing a sting ray caught in the Kornati National Park.
Jirki dived into the sea in front of the Mare bar on Katina island to take a photo of the sting ray which was attached to the pier. As he turned on the flash on his camera, the sting ray got scared and attacked him.
It bit his nose, but did not bite it off entirely. Luckily, a Czech surgeon happened to be in the same place, who had his surgical kit with him. He tended to Jirki straight away and attached his nose back on.
Employees of the nearby medical clinic on Murter inform us that the Czech citizen did not seek their help after the accident, but news of the case travelled to the clinic."
