Millions become millionaires during Covid pandemic

More than five million people became millionaires across the world in 2020 despite economic damage from the Covid-19 pandemic. While many poor people became poorer, the number of millionaires increased by 5.2 million to 56.1 million globally, Credit Suisse research found.

In 2020 more than 1% of adults worldwide were millionaires for the first time. Recovering stock markets and soaring house prices helped boost their wealth. Wealth creation appeared to be "completely detached" from the economic woes of the pandemic, the researchers said.

Anti-Fascist Struggle Day

Anti-Fascist Struggle Day is a public holiday in Croatia and is always celebrated on June 22nd.

It marks the beginning of the uprising of Croatian anti-fascist Partisans against German and Italian occupying forces.

To mark Anti-Fascist Struggle Day, wreaths are laid at the monument to the detachment that stands in a memorial park in Brezovica on June 22nd.

The commemoration is organised by the Croatian Alliance of Antifascist Fighters and Antifascists and the Sisak city authorities.

Summer has just started but it's already too hot in Croatia.

We're currently in the very first Croatian heatwave of this year, which has yet to culminate and will, with any luck, do so around the middle of the week. Temperatures locally could rise to an extremely and uncomfortably high 38, and the nights will be unpleasant, tropical, which means that the minimum temperature will not fall below 20.

It is therefore not surprising that a high-level heat wave warning is in force across the entire country, as such unforgiving temperatures can adversely affect human health in a multitude of ways.

Thousands Have Signed an Online Petition for Jeff Bezos to Buy and Eat the Mona Lisa

The funny thing is, the petition isn’t even new, it was started a year ago by a Maryland musician named Kane Powell. Powell told Vice that he and his friends were at an Applebee’s talking about Bezos, given that Amazon was in the news at that time, and said he should buy it “just because he has the money to do it.” It would make a huge statement, he said. However, Powell and his friends weren’t done.

Powell said that not only should Bezos buy the painting, he should also eat it.
